I welcome you to our initial issue of the “Sounding Board”!

Over my 35 years in the building business I have experienced an industry that has dramatically changed the way we do business. The economy, not only recently, but over the past 30 years has reduced the number of suppliers in this industry by well over 50%. Products and services that year’s ago were simple and easy to buy, sell, deliver, and install, are now more complex and costly to procure, warehouse, and distribute, and may require specific or special instruction for installation. The building business has changed.

At Hingham Lumber Company we take responsibility for the products and services we offer very seriously. We continue to review value added products and services that will benefit our customers, like you, both short, and long term. We continue to pursue opportunities to educate our customers of the benefits of value added products and services. We believe that it is not only important for our customers to know what products cost, but why. This information is offered through many avenues including advertisements, seminars, lunches, jobsite visits, and informational handouts. We will continue to explore more efficient means of offering you this information but also when you want it from such sources as the internet as well as some of the tried and tested ways of the past.
