What a winter! Inevitably, as the weather has improved so will the economic climate in the building industry and I know that we all could use an up-tick in business.
We have seen signs of improvement, let’s hope it continues.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your business both past and
in the future and to invite you to speak with myself or any other Hingham Lumber employee about any way we could improve our services to you our valued customers.
Late last summer we introduced a new product that some of you have tried and we have had some success with. It is Zip System wall and roof sheathing. The product
is manufactured by Huber who is the maker of Advantech Floor Sheathing which is a
product that most of you are familiar with and has been a huge success. Zip System wall and roof sheathing are wall and roof panels with built-in protective barriers and
Zip Tape that eliminates the need for housewrap and roofing felt. Simply install the sheathing, tape the seams and you are done.
- The product installs up to 40% faster than traditional housewraps and felts
- Eliminates rips and tears like those from felt or housewrap
- Job site stands out with a neater cleaner appearance
The Zip System Wall System is a structural wall panel that provides structural
support and is made with the same resins used in Advantech flooring. It has a built-in
STORMEX water resistive barrier that keeps bulk water out during construction and
eliminates water becoming trapped between housewrap and sheathing. The Zip System
Tape reduces air infiltration helping to maintain the R-value on insulation and reduces
air leaks. The panel breathabilty allows moisture vapor to travel through the panel
allowing walls to breath and dry out. Coverings approved over the wall sheathing are
vinyl and aluminum siding, cementious plank or lapped siding, wood shingles and shakes
and brick or stone. The Zip Wall Sheathing comes in 7/16”.
The Zip System Roof Sheathing is also a structural panel with a built-in water resistive barrier which eliminates the need for felt paper. It comes in 1/2” or 5/8”.
The integrated barrier provides moisture resistance if roof shingles are blown off or
damaged. Once the roof sheathing is taped you have instant rough dry-in for 120 days.
The panels and tape lie flat under the roof covering for a consistent roof line. Coverings
that can be applied to Zip System Roof are asphalt and fiberglass shingles, wood shakes
and shingles, metal shingles and panels, slate roofs, and clay and concrete tiles.
We are excited about this new product. As you can see it will enable you to save time and money without sacrificing quality. If you haven’t already and would
like to give it a try, see any salesperson at Hingham Lumber. They can provide you with
pricing, detailed installation instructions, and information on first time users rebate good
for up to $900.00 until June 30, 2009.
